Tift County will begin residential storm debris removal on Monday, October 7th. We ask for your patience and understanding during our post-storm cleanup efforts, as it will take weeks for our crews to collect debris in all of unincorporated Tift County. Logs with a total circumference greater than 20 inches will require the deployment of larger equipment and collection will take longer than smaller debris.
Tift County's waste removal contractor, Golden Environmental, will only collect storm-related yard debris (trees, limbs, bushes, etc.) placed at the curbside or the edge of the right-of-way. For areas with roadside ditches, debris should be placed behind the ditch. To ensure the traveling public's safety, we ask that you not place or pile debris on the roadway, street or roadside ditches.
For debris to be collected by Tift County, the following guidelines must be adhered to:
- Debris placed at the roadside (trees, limbs, bushes, etc.) must be cut into sections no longer than 5 feet.
- It is the responsibility of the property owner to dispose of any debris too large to moved to the right-of-way.
- Curbside pickup will not be provided for construction-related debris (shingles, lumber, plywood, sheetrock, metal, ect.). All construction debris must be taken to the Tift/Tift County Landfill located at 445 Mitchell Store Road.
