
Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough was on hand today to Welcome Home retired Army Master Sergeant Sherida Grant. Grant was injured by 3 IED's (improvised explosive devices) during her combat career in the US Army. Injuries sustained in combat led to her retirement in July of 2021 after 26 years of service to her country.
Today with help from Building Homes For Heroes, Chase Bank which purchased and donated the home, Lowe's, Advance Auto Parts & Bill Cooper Construction, she was gifted her new home on Frazier Circle. This is the 348 home gifted to wounded combat veterans by Building Homes For Heroes since their inception in 2006.
Almost 90% of the materials used to renovate the home were donated with Advance Auto Parts being the single largest donor to Building Homes For Heroes. They have donated 18 million dollars over the last 8 years with Lowe's donating an additional 3 million over the past two years.
Joining Sheriff Scarbrough on the front porch today were Kim Valdyke the Director of Construction for Building Homes For Heroes, County Commissioner Melissa Hughes and Retired Master Sergeant Sherida Grant.
This was the first gifted home in the Tiftarea by Building Homes For Heroes.
