This will be a relaxed and informal drop in style get together to allow citizens the opportunity to talk with deputies about issues they feel are important. These casual conversations help put real faces and personalities on each side, bring concerns to the table, and create better understanding of all involved. The aim is to provide everyone with a voice, enhance cultural awareness, and strengthen understanding. By pairing local law enforcement with local houses of worship, these events offer a unique opportunity to bring law enforcement officers and the community members they serve together to discuss issues and learn more about each other. Community residents can sit down with deputies and ask questions or share what's on their mind. In a neutral environment, citizens and law enforcement officers get to know each other and discover mutual goals for the communities they live in and serve.
We plan to have refreshments, information on the new Tift County Sheriff's Office smart phone app, an information table with informational pamphlets and resource books, as well as a drop box for those that want to submit a question and to be contacted privately after the event. We will also have personnel present that are certified in child car seat installation for those that wish to have their child car seats inspected.
