Theft By Taking & Burglary Arrest Made
On Monday, February 1, 2016, the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, Moultrie Police Department, Thomasville Police Department, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office and Meigs Police Department served a search warrant in Meigs, Georgia at the residence of 47 year old while male Darin Pearce. Mr. Pearce has been connected to approximately 10 theft cases that occurred between October 2015 and February 2016. Property stolen in those ten cases total approximately $295,000 and approximately $228,000 of that stolen property has been recovered. The thefts occurred throughout Tift, Colquitt, Thomas, Decatur and Brooks counties. Mr. Pearce is being held at the Tift County Law Enforcement Center on charges of theft by taking, burglary 2nd degree and criminal attempt to commit burglary 2nd degree.
Sheriff Scarbrough added that, "if you live this type of lifestyle we're coming at you hard." The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
