Five Search Warrants Served With Two Arrests Made
Sheriff Gene Scarbrough reports that on Monday morning search warrants were executed at five residences in Tifton and Tift County. The search warrants stem from a lengthy investigation into a drug trafficking organization that distributed crystal methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana predominately throughout Tift County and South Georgia. Searches were conducted at the following locations: 916 44th Street East, Tifton, 724 Duggan Street, Tifton, 3303 Alamo Place, Tifton, 1714 Valley Drive, Tifton and 1106 Carpenter Road, Lot 6, Chula, Georgia.
Four pounds of crystal methamphetamine, five ounces of heroin, three pounds of marijuana and approximately $55,000 cash were recovered during the searches. Weeks prior to the execution of the search warrant, eighteen ounces of crystal methamphetamine was seized by law enforcement.
As a result of this investigation Leslie Howard, age 45, of 1106 Carpenter Road, Lot 6, Chula was arrested and charged with Trafficking in heroin and Trafficking in methamphetamine. Tonya Harp, age 36, 1714 Valley Drive, Tifton, was charged with Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Law enforcement agencies participating in this investigation include the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Macon Office, Mid-South Narcotics Task Force, South Central Drug Task Force, Georgia Department of Corrections and the Sheriff's Offices in Tift, Ben Hill, Brantley, Crisp, Dooly and Ware Counties.
