Marginal Risk Of Severe Thunderstorms Continues For Today

Good Friday morning

aa.jpg

Bottom Line:

There is still a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) of severe thunderstorms over portions of the Tri-State region today. The main threats are:

  • Isolated damaging wind gusts
  • A brief tornado could occur

Overview:

A weakening cold front will move from northwest to southeast across the region today and tonight. In advance of the front, a line of showers and embedded strong thunderstorms will cross the region. The strongest thunderstorms have potential to bring isolated damaging wind gusts, and a brief tornado could occur.

The most favorable environment will come this afternoon over inland areas, where the best afternoon heating and least questionable instability will come.

Showers and non-severe thunderstorms will continue east this evening through the light green-shaded General Thunder area over the Florida Big Bend region and the I-75 corridor. However, the attached timing graphic is mainly focused on time windows when severe storms are possible.
